Expert Tree Care in the Chicago Area since 1985 |
The Village of Mettawa is unique in Southeast Lake County, with wide expanses of natural lands and development planned to nurture the flora and fauna native to the area.
Mettawa was incorporated in 1960 when its population was 118. The goal of those residents was to preserve the woodlands and open fields as an oasis to high density development. To accomplish this they planned zoning for low (five acre) density development. Later they welcomed Lake County Forest Preserve development into the Village.
Today's Village borders contain five large preserves: MacArthur Woods, The Adlai E. Stevenson Home, Grainger Woods, Daniel Wright and the Old School forest preserve.
ComEd intends to perform vegetation management activities on distribution circuits in Mettawa, February through April of 2011. ComEd states this is a key component of their maintenance program to ensure system electrical reliability, as vegetation contact with ComEd equipment is the leading cause of outages.
