The Northfield Public Works Department is responsible for the installation, management and maintenance of the Village's roads, water resources, sewers, parks, forestry and other various infrastructure projects. Twice annually (in the spring and in the autumn), the Village will conduct a tree planting program for residents to purchase and plant appropriate trees for their yards and the parkway.

Trees purchased through the Village are offered at a discounted rate to residents for planting on their property, and planting will be conducted by a contracted firm. If a resident purchases a tree for planting in the parkway of their property, the Village will pay for 50% of purchase and planting costs for that tree.
